40 Years of Economic and Commercial Partnership



On October 16, 2019, AmCham Egypt Inc. and AmCham Egypt, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's U.S.-Egypt Business Council, and in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Council’s founding, was honored to host a special dinner event featuring His Excellency Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, at the Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C. 

H.E. the Prime Minister was joined by a distinguished delegation of leadership from the government of Egypt, which included H.E. Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation; H.E. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance; H.E. Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; H.E. Amr Nassar, Minister of Trade and Industry; H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; H.E. Tarek Amer, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt; and H.E. Yasser Reda, Ambassador of Egypt to the United States.  

The event commenced with welcoming remarks by the U.S. Chamber’s Senior Vice President for Middle East Affairs, Khush Choksy, and AmCham Egypt Inc.’s Chief Executive Officer, Hisham Fahmy. Mr. Fahmy lauded H.E. Dr. Madbouly for his support of AmCham Egypt over the years and commended him on successfully navigating difficult economic reforms.

During the Prime Minister’s remarks, H.E. Dr. Madbouly highlighted the vital importance of strong and comprehensive partnerships between Egypt and the American business community and encouraged the growing activity of American companies on the ground in Egypt.  Steve Lutes, Executive Director of the U.S.-Egypt Business Council, moderated a Q&A session near the conclusion of the event. During the discussion, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, H.E. Dr. Talaat, discussed the encouraging progress being made toward Egypt’s efforts to fully digitize government processes, in addition to the development of Egypt’s first smart city, the New Administrative Capital.
