The American Middle East Institute 10th Anniversary Conference: Transformational Technologies
On the 9th and 10th of October 2017, the American Middle East Institute (AMEI) marked its 10th anniversary through its conference on Transformational Technologies. The conference was held in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and aimed at showcasing the technologies being developed in Pittsburgh that are changing lives and markets.
Hisham Fahmy, Chief Executive Officer of AmCham Egypt Inc. was invited as a speaker at the conference where he address the topic; "Egypt: Open for Business". Fahmy highlighted the recent investment reforms undertaken by the Egyptian government including; the newly drafted Investment Law, the enactment of the Bankruptcy Act, and the floatation of the currency in 2016. Fahmy also highlighted the mega projects that have been launched in Egypt, including the Suez Canal Economic Zone, The Golden Triangle and the New Administrative Capital which aims at reducing the overpopulation in Cairo and major cities.
Hisham Fahmy addressed the vast opportunities in the Egyptian market, making the country a potential hub for U.S. Investment. He elaborated on the investment opportunities in the Energy Sector, the Transport, Maritime and Logistic Sectors, as well as in Manufacturing.
Other speakers at the conference included; Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak, Vice Chair of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce Dr. Lama Al Sulaiman, as well as other representatives of Health, Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, and Energy sectors.
